Yardwork

I know...I know...My blog titles are always so creative! ;)  You probably read my sister Amber's blog, who always thinks of something so cute...and then I come up with "Yardwork."  Ha!  It's okay-- it's just the first thing that comes to mind!

Anyway, last Saturday daddy went fishing with his buddies.  So that afternoon, mommy and Caeden decided to do some yardwork.  First he wanted to use the hose.  So we put his new hose attachment on.  It's a good thing it was 80 degrees outside because Caeden definitely didn't stay dry.  Within a few seconds of figuring out how to squirt the water, he pointed it straight at his head, pushed the trigger, and the water pushed his hat off, soaking his face and clothes.  But of course, he just looked at me and laughed.  This is a two-year-old's version of "yardwork:"

First the cleaning of the side of the house (this is where he liked to squirt the water):

Then the raking of all our leaves (or lack thereof) ;)

And lastly, watering Daddy's tree and blueberry bushes...They still need water after all the rain, right?

As messy as it was, we had a blast playing in the water, and Caeden truly thought he was helping, which is so fun to watch!  We are enjoying the warmer weather, and hope it decides to stick around!  Have a good weekend!

Hide and Seek!!!

Caeden has recently learned how to play the classic game of hide and seek.  But if you ever decide to play with him...Don't worry...it's not a challenge!  He hides in the same two places everytime. :)  Watch the video and you'll see what I mean.

Ring Around the Rosie...

A few weeks ago, I taught Caeden and Ella how to play "Ring Around the Rosie."  It was great, but tiring!  After that, they wanted to play it constantly....and they wanted ME involved the whole time. ;)  Then Caeden learned he could play by himself by spinning in circles.  Ella quickly caught on.  I got some of it on tape...Their delayed reactions are pretty funny.  Hope you enjoy!

Roly-Poly

This is a video of Caeden having just found a roly poly ("bug") on our kitchen floor.  He apparently found it pretty hilarious!

T-Ball!

Sooo...I haven't been so good at this blog thing lately.  I'm not going to try to re-cap these last three weeks, because you don't want to read a novel.  But we've taken some cute videos of Caeden these past few weeks, so I thought I would post one a day over the next few days, so you can see them all.

This first one is him playing t-ball.  Uncle Ryan got him this for Christmas and he's just started figuring out how to play.  Maybe he'll grow up to be our little baseball player...Who knows?  Enjoy the video! (And sorry about the loud wind in the background).

"Children Won't Wait"

I read this poem this morning and loved it.  Thought I would share it with you all.  No matter what stage you are in parenthood, this poem should mean a lot.  The first stanza talks about our experiences in pregnancy, then the newborn stage, and finally the toddler/child stage.

"Children Won't Wait"

There is a time to anticipate the baby's coming, a time to consult a doctor;
A time to plan a diet and exercise, a time to gather a layette.
There is a time to wonder at the ways of God, knowing this is the destiny for which I was created;
A time to dream of what this child may become,
A time to pray that God will teach me how to train this child which I bear.
A time to prepare myself that I might nurture my child's soul.
But soon there comes the time for birth,
For babies won't wait.

There is a time for night feedings, and colic and formulas.
There is a time for rocking and a time for walking the floor,
A time for patience and self-sacrifice,
A time to show that my child's new world is a world of love and goodness and dependability.
There is a time to ponder what my child is - not a pet nor toy; but a person, an individual - a soul made in God's image.
There is a time to consider my stewardship. I cannot possess my child.
This child is not mine. I have been chosen to care for, to love, to enjoy,
To nurture and to answer to God for this child.
I resolve to do my best for this child,
For babies don't wait.

There is a time to hold my child close and tell the sweetest story ever told;
A time to enjoy earth and sky and flower, to teach my child of wonder and reverence for God and all He has made.
There is a time to leave the dishes, to swing my child in the park,
To run a race, to draw a picture, to catch a butterfly, to give my child happy comradeship.
There is a time to point the way, to teach toddler lips to pray,
To teach my child's heart to love God's Word, to love God's way.
For children don't wait.

We are limited in our time with our children.  We need to train them, love them, play with them, and teach them God's Word in the short amount we have.  It's up to us...For they won't wait for us to do these things...They grow up too fast!
