EASTER 2014

Easter is always one of my favorite holidays!  I just love the story behind it, and getting to teach my kids about Jesus and his resurrection!  We did 40 days of "Easter" devotionals with Caeden, one each night leading up to Easter.  It was fun getting to present the whole gospel to him, and he had lots of good questions.  You can see the wheels turning.  When we talked about Jesus' baptism, that led us to discussing what baptism is, in general.  Of course, since he hates going under water, his response was, "Mommy....I'm NEVER getting baptized!"  But I got to tell him about how Jesus lives in my heart and what that means.  He said, "Mommy, Jesus doesn't live in my heart yet."  So it was neat that he was comprehending enough of what we were saying, to come to that conclusion on his own.  This little man is smart, and we are praying that he comes to know Jesus at a young age.

But we also do more "secular" things on Easter too! ;)  A few nights before, we dyed Easter eggs as a family....as is our annual tradition!

Helping me stir the dyes

So proud of the egg she just made!

We also went to the Bentonville Easter Egg Hunt the day before Easter.  Caeden got to see the Easter Bunny....Callie was not a fan.  The actual hunt was chaotic....Let's just say we probably won't be back next year!

Easter morning they woke to find lots of goodies in their Easter baskets:

Then it was off to church in our "Easter Clothes!"

When we got home, Nonni & Grandpa had a surprise for Caeden & Callie!  There were 3 big blue eggs and 3 big pink eggs hidden in the front yard for them to find!  In each egg, were lots of big goodies!  They absolutely LOVED this!

After a big yummy lunch, we had our traditional Easter egg hunt with our dyed eggs!

And all that was left was napping, and playing with the Easter goodies.  HAPPY EASTER!

Ms. Janet's Farm!

My mom has a friend who owns a farm!  She home schools her two kids and takes care of all the animals.  While in Joplin for a few days in March, we made a visit out to the farm one morning! Caeden and Callie both loved it, and were very brave touching all the animals!  It was fun that we got a private tour of all the animals.

Callie's all ready with her PIGTAILS and COWGIRL BOOTS!

Starting out small....petting the cat!

Next up....the baby goats!

Then there were the chickens!

And finally....the horses!

They also got to touch a cow, but I forgot to get pictures of that one!  It was so neat seeing their reactions to all the "real" animals! We will definitely be doing this again sometime!

Callie's Ear Tubes

At the beginning of March, after having several ear infections all winter long, we decided to take Callie to an ENT to get tubes put in her ears.  Caeden had this done when he was 10 months old, and it was the best thing we ever did for his ear infections!  Callie was 16 months old and we were ready!  We got to the hospital at 5:30am, and she did great going through the whole pre-op routine...and all the waiting.

Of course, the immediate recovery was no fun. She was disoriented, confused and would randomly just start CRYING really hard!  It was so sad just trying to comfort her!  But she did great!  Once she was happy and awake, we went home and were home by 9am!

So far, in the last 2.5 months - no ear infections!!  YAY!!

Blog? What blog?

Okay, so it's May 18 and I've made TWO BLOG POSTS this ENTIRE YEAR!!  What in the world is wrong with me?  So much has happened and I want to write about all of it....but it's not humanly possible.  So, I'm going to be making a few posts the next few days....and they will all be about things that happened a long time ago. Ha!  You may not care to read them, but I want to post them for record-keeping purposes. :)  And hopefully, I can start staying up on my blog a little better!  These are a few things we've done this Spring...

We've gone to the park and had some picnics....

Went to a new Lego place in Fayetteville called Brick by Brick...LOVED. IT!

Callie wore her first pigtails!

Callie and I have gone to the library while the "big kids" are at preschool:

Had my first "Muffins with Mom" with Caeden!

This is just a cute picture of Callie and how "girly" she's becoming.  On this particular day, I told her it was time to go get Caeden from school, so on her own (without prompting) she went to grab these things: her necklaces, baby doll, purse, keys and mirror!

I just love my sweet kids and am so blessed with the time I get to spend with them!

Blog Catch-Up

Man, have I been an awful blogger lately!  It's been two months since I've posted ANYTHING and lots of things have happened since then.  There's no way to recap it all (like the 3 snows we've had in the last 2 months)....but here are a few pictures from January & February!

We got to go to a Razorback basketball game...
just us...
no kids... :)

We have a friend who got a bouncy house for Christmas!
They invited us over to play and the kids had a blast!

Caeden got to go to a Razorback basketball game too!
Just him and Daddy!  He loved it!
He told us he wants to go every time, and stay until bedtime!

A pirate snuck into our house one day...

We went to Tulsa one weekend with just Caeden!
He needed some one-on-one time with us!
So Callie stayed with Nana & Papa while we took Caeden to Tulsa!
This was at the Children's Discovery Center!
It is a tunnel made of packing tape!! Seriously!
It was big enough that even us adults could go through it,
and it went throughout the whole big room.
Here is Caeden running through one of the packing tape tunnels!

At the end, there was a packing tape slide....
so here he is going down it!

Playing with the vacuum sucker tubes!
ps....we did lots of other fun things in Tulsa,
but this is all we got pics of!

Cruising on one of our "warmer" days!

Playing in the rain with Daddy!

She has her purse & phone...
and is ready to go!
(15 mos)

Reading stories before bed

One day when we were playing outside, Callie found an old washcloth
and set it out real nicely.  She then proceeded to go around the yard
and collect random things, and she would
place them in just the right place.  She did this over & over!

And here's our sweet girl (just a few days before turning 17 mos old)
This was a super warm day (of 70 degrees) and she got
to wear her sandals!  She loved them!
